Storms...are you prepared?

Here in the Pacific Northwest we see a lot of rain, however strong winds and rains that cause major damage to homes and businesses are not as frequent. Overall, this is great for our us, our homes and our businesses. What we don’t focus on, or tend to forget about, is being prepared for a storm.
A heavy storm can wreck havoc. Structures, whether it business or residential, don’t stand a chance against heavy rains and winds that can take shingles off of roofs.
We see more losses during unusually heavy rainstorms than we usually see within a 24 hour period. Most of the losses we see are from flooded basements, leaky roofing, and fallen trees onto structures. Sometimes even storm drains can’t keep up with heavy flowing water, and the drains back up into yards, houses, streets, and businesses.
We need to consider what we will do if a large storm hits? Do we have supplies if the electricity goes out? How will we stay warm or cool if the electricity stays out for an extended period? Do we have enough fresh water and non-perishable food on hand if traveling isn’t advised?
If storms do hit your home or business and you need help remediating the loss and cleaning up the debris and water, call SERVPRO of Salem West. We are available 24 hours a day to help you in the occurrence of storm damage.
