It has been said, there's a calming before the storm rolls in but most times there's early warnings thanks to inventor Christian Doppler.

Christian Andreas Doppler, born Nov. 29, 1803 was an Austrian physicist who invented the Doppler Radar technology which is still in use today. 

Doppler radar is a tool specifically designed to measure direction , speed / velocity of objects such as rain drops in motion towards or away from a detector.

This technology is what allows millions of people across the United States to prepare for major weather events in their local areas. 

In years gone by, citizens would know a storm was brewing by looking up into the sky, now we have early warnings of what is to come and the potential danger level.
