The 2019 fire season in Oregon is in full effect.
When the countryside dries and underlying brush act as fire starter and kindling, it is only time when an unexpected lighting strike, strikes up a fire.
These fires burn fast, hot and spread quickly with minor wind burst while jumping trenches, fire breaks and dirt roads.
in 2018 the cost to battle Oregon wildfires reached 514 million dollars according to an article in the Salem, Oregon Statesman Journal newspaper. Per the SJ the cost were so high because the fires took extended time to battle and conquer.
What can you do if you have a home in the outback, wilderness or near dry public lands?
#1 Think safety first.
#2 Have a pre-planned escape route.
#3 Talk to your insurance agent to ensure proper coverage.
#4 Take inventory of your personal belongings using your smart phone or video camera and back it up to the cloud.
#5 Plan a meeting destination.
